The recent discovery of two critical PHP security vulnerabilities has sent shockwaves through the web development community, and it's a timely reminder of why, at Fountain Digital, we've made Webflow our platform of choice.

The vulnerabilities, known as PHP2Shell (CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619), have been given critical severity ratings of 9.2 out of 10. They potentially allow attackers to execute malicious code remotely on vulnerable web servers, putting websites and sensitive information at risk.

With PHP powering platforms such as WordPress, Drupal and Joomla, the implications are significant. Website owners and hosting providers are being urged to apply emergency security updates.

Why Webflow Is Different

One of the biggest reasons we advocate Webflow is its fundamentally different approach to website development and hosting.

Unlike traditional PHP-based content management systems, Webflow doesn't rely on PHP to power its hosted websites. This means websites built and hosted entirely on Webflow aren't directly exposed to these particular PHP vulnerabilities.

And that's a pretty big deal.

With traditional platforms such as WordPress, keeping a website secure often involves managing PHP versions, updating plugins, maintaining themes and ensuring server software remains patched. Each additional component introduces another potential point of vulnerability.

Webflow is different. Hosting infrastructure, platform maintenance and core security updates are managed centrally, allowing us to concentrate on updating and running websites rather than maintaining the technology behind them.

Security Without the Headaches

What we love about Webflow is that it significantly reduces the number of moving parts we need to worry about.

There are no traditional PHP plugins to continually update, no PHP server versions for our clients to manage and far fewer maintenance headaches.

For our clients, that means greater peace of mind, less ongoing technical maintenance and more time to focus on what actually matters: growing their businesses.

Building Websites for the Future

At Fountain Digital, we've always believed that a great website should be fast, flexible, beautifully designed and easy to manage. But it should also be built on a solid, secure foundation.

The latest PHP security scare reinforces our belief that choosing the right platform is every bit as important as choosing the right design.

For us, Webflow isn't just a better way to build websites. It's a smarter way to manage them.

And in an increasingly security-conscious digital world, that's an advantage worth having.
